GIS Analyst II

This is advanced, professional, technical work involving developing
and maintaining geospatial databases and uses GIS to perform spatial
analysis, database development, extraction and manipulation.
An employee in a position allocated to this class converts data
received from internal and external sources to make usable in GIS.

Work involves addressing difficult and complex problems, maintaining metadata and documentation, and performing topology checks and other data quality checks to identify and correct errors or omissions in data. An employee in this classification is recognized as a subject matter expert (SME) in the discipline typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. Responsibility includes managing projects or processes with limited supervision, and coaching, assigning, and reviewing the work of lower level professionals.

Work is performed independently under an administrative superior and is reviewed through written reports, conferences, and observation of results obtained.

Required Skills and Certifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in Geographical Information Systems, Geography, Surveying/Mapping, Engineering, Computer Science or related field;
  • Three (3) years of experience in GIS software applications
