This is professional, technical work involving developing and
maintaining geospatial databases and uses GIS to perform spatial
analysis, database development, extraction and manipulation.
An employee in a position allocated to this class converts data
received from internal and external sources to make usable in GIS. Work
involves addressing difficult but not complex problems, maintaining
metadata and documentation, and performing topology checks and other
data quality checks to identify and correct errors or omissions in data.
Duties in this classification are recognized as having practical
knowledge in the discipline typically obtained through advanced
education and work experience.
Work is performed independently under an
administrative superior and is reviewed through written reports,
conferences, and observation of results obtained.
Required Skills and Certifications:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in Geographical Information Systems, Geography, Surveying/Mapping, Engineering, Computer Science or related field
- One (1) year of experience in GIS software applications
